Share your stories of recovery

23 Feb, 2016

Swell is looking for stories of recovery to assist mental health workers and those living with mental distress in resolving life challenges.

An online and paper-based recovery toolkit, Swell provides mental health workers with access to best-practice information and advice on resolving common recovery challenges.

The group is calling for people with experience of mental distress to discuss the impact of challenges and things that helped overcome difficulties in order to instil hope and inspiration.

Peer recovery stories should be a half to full A4 page in length and discuss your experience of struggling with and overcoming ONE of the following 12 challenges:

  • Finding a suitable place to live.
  • Managing the household.
  • Dealing with landlords and neighbours.
  • Physical and emotional safety at home.

  • Finding work.
  • Disclosing lived experience.
  • Negotiating work conditions.
  • Succeeding in the workplace.

  • Sticking to a budget.
  • Getting out of debt.
  • Saving for the future.
  • Making money go further.

Those who submit a story will receive a free login to Swell resources, and those whose stories are published will receive a $100 Amazon gift voucher and a copy of Madness Made Me, by Mary O’Hagan.

Story submissions are open until Monday 21 March 2016 to
