It’s normal to feel scared and worried after an earthquake like the 7.5 magnitude shake that has been felt in both the South and North Islands in the early hours of 14 November.
The earthquake struck near Hanmer Springs and was felt strongly in Christchurch, Wellington and Marlborough. Kaikoura on the east coast of the South Island was the worst affected.
Following the Canterbury earthquakes that began in 2010, several resources were put together containing helpful tips and advice on how to cope. That advice is still relevant and available to help you now.
Remembering to take care of your loved ones is very important, but don’t forget about yourself too. It’s important to acknowledge your feelings, be kind to yourself and stay in touch with family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
